This painting is an illustration for the book, Dear Divine Daughter, of Lydia, seller of purple. Despite her position as a propertied widow of some means, she accepted the Christian faith wholeheartedly. She supported Paul and Silas in their Philippian mission and was a great strength to the fledgling Church. I painted this woman in purple garb as a representation of her divine worth and as a reminder that accepting the Gospel of Jesus Christ is ennobling and enriches our lives immeasurably.
