This painting was done as an illustration for the book, Dear Divine Daughter, of the woman who anoints Christ with precious ointment from her alabaster box. What strikes me about this woman is that she was no Jew. She was a Gentile living amongst the Israelites, and yet she recognizes Jesus for who He is as the Christ. She kisses His feet to express her subjection of spirit and earnest supplication, which was a heathen practice, not a Jewish one. As she wipes His feet with her hair, the Savior forgives her sins because of her great love. This gives us hope that even though we are not perfect, the Savior can forgive us if our hearts are right.
