This painting reflects the silliness of my imagination. It began while watching Chicken People, a documentary about chicken breeders and their prize-winning pets. These people have such overwhelming love for an animal I consider to be lunch. Naturally, my mind went to what an 18th-century chicken-obsessed lord might look like. Obviously his chickens would live in the house with him, and, clearly, he would also be a collector of unusual headwear. And there you have it, Sir Leicester and the Chickens was born: a man of fine tastes, in chickens and horned helmets alike.
