During one memorable trip to the zoo, my mother and I purchased fuzzy, feather-like hats in lovely shades of green and yellow. When we went to greet the birds, they were mighty interested in us and our hats. Perhaps they thought we were enormous exotic birds with the most unusual plumage. With the parrot in my painting eyeing the feathery display on his lady’s head, I think back to my zoo experience at the parrot exhibit. Perhaps this conure thinks his owner is a parrot, too.
